NewCold Ferentino: Consorzio SCE Builds the New Cold Storage Hub

Consorzio SCE is proud to announce the construction of NewCold Ferentino, the largest and most advanced automated logistics warehouse in Central and Southern Italy. NewCold, a global leader in advanced food logistics, has chosen Ferentino, in the province of Frosinone, as the site for this new facility.

The structure will rise in the ASI industrial area of Ferentino, near the Froneri plant—Froneri being the world’s second-largest producer of packaged ice cream and the leading producer of private-label ice cream—and will be connected to it through a dedicated tunnel.

This innovative solution, unprecedented in the Italian market, will deliver significant environmental benefits by reducing transport-related pollution, while supporting Froneri’s business growth and further strengthening the successful partnership between the two companies.

The new facility—which, alongside Froneri’s products, will also store smaller quantities of goods from other companies—will be built in phases.

The First Phase will offer 62,000 pallet spaces and will exceed 40 meters in height, featuring state-of-the-art innovations in automated vehicle loading and unloading, as well as full automation of picking processes.

The NewCold warehouse will also set new standards in energy efficiency: the new hub will consume 50% less energy compared to traditional warehouses, leveraging a variety of renewable energy sources.
